Service Definitions

Define what your firm sells, once

Corporate tax filing, VAT returns, bookkeeping, licence renewal support each firm sells its own set at its own fees. AudiTax lets you define them once and apply them per client, so the deadlines and the billing both follow.

A catalogue, not a retype

Set up the services your practice offers once. Applying one to a client takes its definition with it instead of being described again from scratch.

Fees and cycles per client

The same service can carry different fees and cycles for different clients, which is how firms actually price.

Deadlines follow the service

Because a client's services are recorded, the compliance dates that come with them can be tracked automatically rather than added by hand.

A date can hang off another date

A service's deadline need not be a fixed calendar entry. It can be anchored to another deadline, to a recurring task, or to a date already held on the client record — so when the anchor moves, everything that depends on it moves with it.

Offsets, and what happens next cycle

Each date is defined as an offset — a number of days, months or years, before or after its anchor — rather than typed in by hand. How the next cycle is worked out belongs to the definition too: it can roll forward from the due date, hold the same month and day, or be recalculated from the anchor again.

Alerts, and the fields your firm records

A service carries its own reminder schedule: several alerts at different offsets, not one on the day itself. It can also carry the fields your firm records against it, each with its own label and whether it is required — so a service captures what your practice actually needs rather than a fixed form.

Frequently asked questions

Can the same service have different fees per client?
Yes a service definition is applied per client with its own fee and cycle.
Do compliance dates come from services?
Yes. What a client subscribes to determines the obligations tracked for them.
Can we change a service later?
Yes, definitions are maintained by your firm and applied as your offering changes.
Is this the same as invoicing?
No. Service definitions say what you sell; invoicing bills for it.
Can one deadline depend on another?
Yes. A date can be anchored to another deadline, to a recurring task, to a field on the client record, or to a fixed date you set.
How does a recurring deadline move to the next cycle?
That is part of the service definition. It can roll forward from the due date, keep the same month and day, or be recalculated from its anchor.
Can we add our own fields to a service?
Yes. A service definition can carry its own fields, each with a label and a setting for whether it is required.
